BARBARA GREINDL
PAINTER & SCULPTOR

THE ARTIST
A contemporary Belgian sculptor, she boldly explores the absurdity and beauty of the world through works full of humor and commitment.
Barbara grew up in an artistic environment influenced by a mother who restored old paintings and a father with eccentric ideas.
After working on masterpieces by Flemish masters, she turned to contemporary creation.
Today, his bronze sculptures, murals and oil paintings subtly explore the paradoxes of our society.
°°° Between surrealism and Belgian humor °°°
" My works depict the absurdity of the ordinary, from blue fish emerging from chicken eggs to frogs popping out of sardine tins… Through these creations, I invite reflection on environmental issues, the paradoxes of consumer society, and certain shortcomings of the food industry. In the series 'Take your drugs & keep calm,' I denounce, forcefully and with a touch of irony, the overmedication of elderly people in nursing homes. This is not a criticism of healthcare professionals, many of whom do admirable work, but rather a reflection on the excesses of a system that can sometimes lack humanity and sacrifice fundamental human values for purely financial gain. All of my work , whether bronze sculptures, wall sculptures made from eggshells, mussels, etc., or oil paintings, revolves around a subtle lightness and a humor tinged with commitment, always at halfway between surrealism and human questioning "
